adidas Unveil Chelsea 2014/15 Home Kit

New two-tone striped design for Jose Mourinho's men.

adidas have revealed the Chelsea home kit for the 2014/15 season. Designed using engineered fabric showing contrasting blue tones on the front that includes a two-tone striped design, the new shirt takes inspiration from club kits in the late 1980s and early 1990s and features the latest premium adidas technology.

Accompanying the launch is the ‘Forever Blue’ campaign that follows on from last years year's "It's Blue. What else matters?". The new campaign features a stunning video in which five Chelsea players are captured in their favourite Chelsea moment and immortalised in unique sculptures.

Narrated by manager, Jose Mourinho, the video references iconic goals, saves and celebrations from recent Chelsea history. It features Petr Cech’s penalty save from Bayern Munich’s Bastian Schweinsteiger, Fernando Torres’s opening goal against Benfica in last season’s Europa League final, Gary Cahill’s volleyed strike against Spurs, Oscar’s wonder goal against Juventus and most recently Eden Hazard’s hat-trick against Newcastle.

Chelsea FC Chief Executive Ron Gourlay said: ‘We are very proud to have once again worked with adidas to deliver a standout campaign to launch our new home kit for the 2014/15 season. The creative theme of “Forever Blue” and capturing those memorable moments that will live in the minds of our players and fans is a great way to bring the new kit to life.’

Petr Cech added: ‘The players all love to get involved in these campaigns and the idea of being “Forever Blue” is something that everyone at the club can relate to, as we all have our own unique memories from our careers. I know that my moment in the Champions League final will stay with me forever and I am excited to see that my sculpture will help me share that moment with the fans.’

The new Chelsea Home Kit will be available from selected stockists including Pro-Direct Soccer from April 30th. What do you think of the new kit? Let us know. Join the conversation online, on Twitter and on Facebook.

Nike Reveal Korea World Cup Away Shirt
Combining performance innovations with symbols of national pride.

Nike continue to roll out their World Cup kit offerings this time with the unveiling of the Korea national team away strip. With the inclusion of Korea's national flag colours - white, blue and red, the Taegeuk and an Asian inspired collar the new strip embodies Korean national pride.

With a design rich in national pride, the new Korea away jersey is classic white and prominently features the Taegeuk - the yin and yang symbol from the Korean national flag.“This kit possesses both revolutionary performance benefits, and a strong sense of celebrating the country,” said Martin Lotti, Nike Football Global Creative Director.

The design team wanted to give Korea a unique collar, one that has clear Asian influences and draws inspiration from classic Korean attire. Inside the back of the neck, a pennant tab features a Tuhon symbol in traditional Korean calligraphy that translates as "Fighting Spirit" and represents the inherent qualities of Korean football.

The red and blue interlocking shape from the Taegeuk appears at the top of each sleeve, with the right shoulder red and the left blue, giving the jersey a modern appearance and matching the contours of players’ bodies. The new away shorts and socks are white.

“The clean and crisp white kit, with highlights of red and blue, is visually stunning,” said Korean National Team midfielder ChungYong Lee. “Coupled with performance innovations that cool the body, this kit will play an important role for us in the heat and humidity of Brasil this summer."

Nike Reveal USA World Cup Away Shirt
New patriotic design for the USMNT to wear in Brazil this summer.

Nike have revealed the new away strip for the U.S. Men’s National Soccer Team to wear at the World Cup in Brazil this summer. A deeply patriotic new away kit consisting of three bands representing the colours of the American flag.

Featuring a modern crew-neck collar, the base color of the jersey and the cuff of the sleeves are soaked in prominent red. The upper torso and top sleeves include a bold blue tone, and a white chest band extends over the middle of both sleeves.

Inside the back of the neck is a pennant tab featuring thirteen red and white stripes to represent the original thirteen colonies that declared independence and formed the first states.

“The USA has a profound and passionate pride in their nation,” said Martin Lotti, Global Creative Director for Nike Soccer. “We wanted to create a design that reflects this in a daring, colorful fashion to give them an even more imposing appearance on pitch.”

“I like the patriotic design and color scheme and I think it will look great on the pitch,” said U.S. Men’s National Team Captain Clint Dempsey. “Hopefully they will serve us well as we head into a competitive group."

In a portrait series lead by Clint Demspey and Sydney Leroux, a group of notable athletes and fans were photographed wearing the new kit to show their support for the team, including skateboarders Eric Koston and Sean Malto; track and field gold medalist Allyson Felix; and former U.S. National Team member Alexi Lalas.

Nike England Home & Away World Cup Kits
White pinstripes and classic red kit out England for Brazil 2014.

Nike World Cup kits have come thick and fast over the past few weeks but one nation has been missing - England. Today however Nike have released both the home and away strips for the Three Lions. The new home jersey is a pure white whilst the away jersey features a subtle St. George’s cross that can only be seen from distance.

Featuring an engineered pinstripe in the fabric and white satin tape on the shoulders, the home jersey has a distinctive shine that "pays tribute to English Knights". "Designing the kits for the country that invented the game was a real honor for our design team," said Martin Lotti, Nike Football Global Creative Director. "We wanted to pay homage to key moments in England’s proud footballing history."

"Two references really stood out during the design process for the home kit – that stunning all-white kit England wore in Mexico in 1970 and the idea of the armour of English Knights,” added Lotti. "You can see subtle references to the armour in the pinstripe, which carries a hint of shine, and in the white satin tape on the shoulders."

The famous three lions crest has a metallic weave to create another shimmering effect, most noticable when the crest catches the light. Inside the back of the neck is a pennant tab with a graphic of silver pinstripes that together create a St. George’s cross. The jersey also features a modern v-neck collar.

The new shorts are classic white with a satin white tape along each side and have a slimmer more tailored fit. The central back section of the shorts features Nike’s signature laser vents to aid in cooling and allow for moisture management.

Nike have collaborated with renowned English typographer Neville Brody to create a new font for the names and numbers on the back of the jersey. "It has been an extraordinary honour to design the fonts for the English jersey", said Brody. "The core inspiration was to focus on the intersection between flair and workmanlike reliability."

Despite clever hidden elements and historical references, both new England kits, like others that have been produced by Nike for Brazil 2014, are quite simple. A request from FIFA asked nations to wear predominantly singled-coloured kits to improve the quality of footage on HD televisions.

The new England away jersey features a bold red tonal pinstripe design subtly infused with a graphic interpretation of St. George’s cross on the front. The St. George’s cross is an optical illusion and cannot be seen up close, coming into focus only from a distance.

The jersey boasts a unique neckline with a subtle collar desig with the front panel going all the way to the top of the jersey to render the St. George’s cross as large as possible. The England crest features a satin weave base with embroidered lions to create a lustrous effect and uses a bright white with an optical brightener to further enhance its whiteness.

Inside the back of the neck, consistent with the home jersey is a pennant tab, this time with a graphic of red pinstripes that together create a subtle St. George’s cross. The shorts are white with a red tape along each side, and the away socks are red. The new home kit will debut on-pitch in the friendly game with Peru at Wembley on May 30.
